TOP 10 OLDEST AND CLASSICAL LANGUAGE IN THE WORLD

Language is a medium of communication come to form  Thousand of years ago thus it is hard to find the first language of the world. Researchers continuously search for proof of the oldest language. However many many researchers make this list as oldest language of the world. 

Let’s take a look at the top ten oldest languages in the world.

Latin is an old language that exist in the period before 75 BC
 was spoken by the Romans and others during ancient and medieval   times. Since Latin was very important to Christianity through many centuries, it is still spoken today during some religious activities such as prayers and cults.

9. ARMENIAN

The Armenian is an Indo-European language spoken by the Armenians. It is the official language of the Republic of Armenia. The last text found makes it likely that Armenian began around 450 BC.

8. KOREAN

 The Korean language originated back to 600 BC. It is the official language of North Korea and South Korea. The Korean language is spoken by 80 million people world wide. All Koreans speak and write the same language that shows their strong national identity.   

7. HEBREW

 Hebrew is over 3000 years old, exist around the period of 1000 BC. It is an ancient Semitic language and the official language of the State of Israel and spoken by 5 million people world wide. For many years, Hebrew was a written language mostly for sacred texts thereby given the name of “holy language.” Today it is both a spoken and written language that ties the Jewish community together.

6. ARAMAIC

The Aramaic language was widely adopted for other languages and is ancestral to both the Arabic and Hebrew. Approximately 3,100 years of written history Aramaic has served variously as a language of administration of empires prove this to be one of the oldest languages. Modern Aramaic, in its various dialects, is spoken in modern-day Iran, Iraq,Israel,Lebanon,Syria, and the various Western countries.

5. CHINESE

Chinese is the official language of the China, Taiwan, and Singapore. The first written records of Chinese language date back 3000 years to 1200 BC and the Zhou Dynasty.This is the most spoken language spoken in the world.

4. GREEK

Greek laguage is mostly spoken in Greece, Albania and Cyprus, used by around 13 million people world wide. The earliest written evidence stated that the language exist to 1450 BC or before. The Greek language holds an important place in the histories of Europe. 

3. EGYPTIAN

Egyptian is the oldest known language of Egypt.The earliest known complete sentence in the Egyptian language has been dated to about 2690 BC, making it one of the oldest recorded languages in the world.There is considerable and varied literature in Egyptian. Today, Egyptian survives as the liturgical language of the Coptic Church. It has several hundred fluent speakers today.

2. SANSKRIT

Sanskrit language which heavily influenced many European languages, originated from Tamil. sanskrit, as defined by Panini, evolved out of the earlier Vedic form. The present form of Vedic Sanskrit can be traced back to 3000 BC. Sanskrit is the classical language of India  and still one of the official languages of India, although its use in the vernacular is limited.

1. TAMIL 

Tamil is one of the longest surviving classical languages in the world. This language is more than 5000 years old. Tamil is a dravidian language spoken in Tamil nadu(Indian state) and Srilanka.
The variety and quality of classical Tamil literature has led to it being described as "one of the great classical traditions and literatures of the world"
